Why do i feel sick when put my cartiladge earring in?

i took the earring out so i could pur a new one in. I waited the 6 months before i did this, but the earring post i was going to put in was too big for the hole. So i tried putting the original earring in, but i began to feel really sick, and i cant get the earring back in.
