What exactly do they do during chemo?

I have APL and im WAY too scared to go to chemo or ANYTHING. Im a rarity since im 19 and was just diagnosed with it! =( so what goes on during chemo exactly? do i have to get shots? do i have to have an IV? will i get sick?? i told my doctor i would think about it since he HIGHLY recommends it but im so scared he didnt explain what happens during it or anything. my husband is mad because i said i might not do it and he is really upset with me. =( this is ruining my life! im so sad and scared! so can anyone tell me what happens during it?? and how long ill be there? and whats ATRA? thank you!
