If "intelligent design" is used to explain complexity in nature that cannot arise by itself, then...?

Doesn't it mean that all the complex predator-prey and parasite-host relationships that cause incomprehensible amounts of suffering and that are in fact essential to many life cycles and processes are also intelligently designed?
