How do i understand a guys language?

I moved to arkansas for 5 months. Then moved back to New York at the begging of school. I have a friend named Miriam Gonzales (we call her miri) me and her have been friends since daycare and a dude named Guadalupe I liked him for since last December. We stopped talking since we started 6th grade. Then at school i thought i herd his bro call her miri and then pushed Guadalupe but he could have said mauri another dudes name. Miriam herd that and knew i liked him she told me she didn't like him and thought that i misunderstood about him liking her. Does he like her? He actually talks to miri since she found i liked him and she suddenly starts talkin about what a good friend i am she told me she does that. I am confused. Why does he talk to her and not me?
