What is the famous Rawhide gay bar?

In the US (I think it's San Francisco) there is a bar called Rawhide. Is it still in business??? What sort of stuff goes on there during the week and weekends? Do they have a separate "private" area for encounters???? Is it worth it to go out of your way to visit or is it nothing special these days?....thanks everyone.
