How can I get rid of bedbugs?!?

Went on holiday to a place that sadly had bedbugs. Although we only stayed a night it seems some of the horrors hitched a ride home with us. How can I get rid of them before they become a real problem? Rather frantic here, they're so revolting!! Please help!! An exterminator is beyond my means, is there any spray or anything I could use?
